Apparently Transcendental Etude no. 12 is very difficult in regards to technique and stamina. I also think the Mephisto Valse would be quite strenuous (long) ... but then again, Liszt is a very demanding composer. Berman's 1958 Melodiya recording is justly famous, and is certainly my favorite set overall. The set closest to my heart is probably Arrau's Philips set. If you don't like it, that's fine.Although the Transcendental Etudes are known for their notorious difficulty, they are filled with passion, emotion and romanticism and should be played with all these aspects in mind.
